Do you have memories of the Tooth Fairy when you were a child? Do you remember your excitement as you tried to fall asleep, knowing that at some point the fairy might slip in and out without you even knowing? Perhaps now, it is your turn to become a tooth fairy to the children in your life. This can be a fun and exciting time where the only limits of what can be done, are the limits you place on your creativity.
One way that you can help the fairy come alive for your child is by having the fairy leave a letter, along with the token of payment. This letter could be to comment on the quality of the tooth, congratulate your child on this milestone or even to offer words of encouragement and advice on their dental hygiene habits.
You can use free printable borders to decorate the letter. Or you could also use glitter and leave some loose so that it falls like “fairy dust” when your child opens it. Can you just see your child’s eyes growing bigger in delight as they find their reward and a personalized letter under the pillow in the morning? You can even encourage your child to write back to the tooth fairy, or to keep a “tooth fairy journal” to let the fairy know what has happened to your child’s teeth since the fairy visited last. Doing this can help you have conversations about why brushing and flossing are important for your child’s health.
