Brushing your child’s teeth is very important because they cannot accomplish the task alone. As with adults, children also require daily brushing sessions twice daily. This ensures their teeth will not suffer the fates of tooth decay or cavities that so often plague our modern oral health care.
When brushing your child’s teeth, use a drop of toothpaste roughly the size of rice grain until they are at least three years old. When they are three you can increase the amount to around a pea-sized pinch. When selecting a toothpaste, look for a brand that has the ADA Seal of Acceptance given out by the American Dental Association.
Never use the same utensils as your children without cleaning them first. Any bacteria from your mouth will be delivered to your child if the same utensils and dental tools are used. For further care, bring your child into our office before they are 1 for an oral examination with their pediatrician. This will help make sure their teeth are growing in properly as well as to diagnose the overall state of their oral health.
