Does your child get scared when they think about losing their baby teeth? If so, they’re not alone. Many children feel this same way. Fortunately, the process doesn’t have to be as scary as your child makes it out to be. In fact, there are things you can do to make it more fun and exciting. Our dentist, Dr. Trent Pryor, is happy to share some ideas!
First, introduce your child to the idea of the Tooth Fairy. Tell them that when they lose their little chompers, the Tooth Fairy will reward them. All they need to do is put the tooth under their pillow before they go to sleep. The Tooth Fairy will visit them, take the tooth, and replace it with a treasure!
Second, have your child create a door sign for the Tooth Fairy. This sign will notify the Tooth Fairy that there is a little tooth ready to be picked up. You can print a door sign from the American Dental Association’s website and have your child decorate it.
Third, have the Tooth Fairy leave a tooth receipt when she collects the tooth. This receipt can also be found on the ADA website. It’s a fun receipt that lists the child’s name, the child’s age, the date of collection, the number of teeth collected, and the payment provided. There’s also a section for the Tooth Fairy to leave a little note at the bottom!
