Our pediatric dentists, Dr. Pryor and Dr. Higbee, would like to help you help your child have the top-notch smile they deserve. To begin, you need to help them keep up on oral hygiene. Oral hygiene is very important for healthy teeth and gums and for a successful oral health. For the best oral hygiene routine possible, it’s best if your child does the following things:

-Brush their teeth every morning and night: When they brush, it’s best if they use a soft-bristled toothbrush that is made for children. This type of brush will clean the teeth and also care for the gums. If your child is 2 years old or older, they can use fluoride toothpaste. If they’re not, they should only use water.

-Floss their teeth once a day: Flossing helps prevent cavities between the teeth as well as gum disease. As they floss, make sure they use a tool that is easy to maneuver because hard-to-use floss can increase the chances of damaging the oral tissues.

-Visit their dentist regularly: Dental checkups are very important because they deeply clean the smile, strengthen the teeth, fix dental issues, and even help your child feel more comfortable in the dental chair. Make sure they visit their dentist every six months.
